A day at the Stars Reach Castle (Apprentice meets traveling merchant):
Faulty Apprentice: Uh...
Zellia Vend: Heya their, lad! You’re my firzt coztumer today, zo you’ll get a dizcount on any of your purchaze. I’m Zellia, your ever truzty nomad merchant. I’m a friend for any zpecie in need. Zo, what can I do for you today?
FA: Well, uh... I’m not looking for any particular good-
ZA: Then, zince I can zenze that you’re juzt an apprentize trying to fit in, maybe the En Thrall bead iz what you need. Juzt hide it in your pocket and attract femalez of any kind. Tip: never uze it if you’re planning to flirt with a Magic Instructor.
FA: Hmm...
ZA: Interezted, are we? *wink* Just give me 1000 gold coinz and it iz yourz!
FA: Wa-! That’s too much! I’m just new here and I don’t have a stable income yet!
ZA: *giggles* Alright! Alright! Then I’ll juzt give you a lizt of everything that I have here. You’ll never know what you lack unlezz someone zhowz you what.
(Apprentice checks list and surprised to see more than a thousand items which ranges from trinkets, weird paraphernalia, rare food ingredients, potions, books, artifacts, magical items, monster organs and limbs, and war arsenal. He looked at the bags which hang from a long brown wood which she balances on her shoulder without effort)
FA: Wait. Don’t tell me you carry these things with you?!
ZA: Why, yez! All the time! We merchantz believe that in every demand, we zhould alwayz have a zolution.
FA: But where are these things?
ZA: (waves a small thick notepad) I can zummon them from here. I juzt write an object and voila! Ofcourze, I juzt uze it for rare goodz. Theze thingz that hang here are common demandz. Zo, no need for any magic trick juzt to get them.
FA: What is this Liquid Soul?
ZA: Ah, that one! (Unbuttons her thick coat and pointed at the small bottles attached to a leather organizer at her waist.) Literally, they are Zouls in liquid form. Wizardz, medicz, architectz and army commanderz uze them for manpower. Juzt pour thiz on the palm of a human mannequin, and you can zummon thee to life. Complex magic zkill iz needed to turn theze zoulz to your advantage. But ofcourze, I zell it for a hefty prize.
FA: How do you even get these things?
ZA: (lifts head in a boastful manner) You zee, I’m a Lynxir. That iz why I can alzo hunt day or night, can adopt anywhere and can hear any call for needz with my preciouz earz (even if you whizper them)! I get my goodz all by myzelf!
FA: *dumbfounded*
30 minutes later. Apprentice walking in the streets.
FA: (lifts a small pouch) *sigh loudly* A pouch of three red beans for 100 silver coins! I’ve lost my mind! I don’t even know how she even persuaded me to buy this! I hope it can grow to something useful...
ZELLIA VEND is a traveling merchant that has a charm that can make you do impulse-buying for no reason. She belongs to a race called Lynxirs who are known for their vague origin, keen hearing ability and hunting prowess. Zellia sells rare items that she can summon from her yellow notepad (is it really the notepad or her tattoo on her thigh that helps her summon objects?) Just like her enigmatic strength for carrying her products on her shoulders, no one knows how or where she gets them and how she travels (she suddenly appears with the right goods at the right place at the right time). But no one dare to ask her credibility once they caught sight of her big pruning shears and her two sharp daggers. She’s greedy for money, has an incredible power for persuasion and a curious taste for anonymity.
She’s a reliable friend for any instructor in Stars Reach, but the Commander is wary of her intentions as a merchant (maybe because of her skills that is beyond her trade or how she attains access to all kingdoms). Rumors surround her all the time. They said she’s a spy during the war while others claimed that she’s a necromancer. But one of the town favorites is that she is believed to be the cause of the disappearance of the dragon-like sea creature from a far-away kingdom. The said evidence is a red concave magic mirror which she sold to wizard just days after the incident (They said the wizard realized that it exactly looked like the big cornea of the said creature). But she shrugs it off as a mere coincidence. Is she a friend or a fiend? Ask her this and she’ll just wink at you with a mysterious smile and will answer with: “Do you want to find out?”
She looks great! love all the trinkets, especially the inside of her coat. Definitely reads as merchant and has a fun personality as well, very cute. I like the idea behind her race and think its great fit for Faulty Apprentice. Thanks so much for entering! Hope you had fun!! (=
